Picture Process: Gem Kitties -Sketch-

I've always had a lot of people ask me how I do my pictures from start to finish and if I would mind putting up a tutorial. Well, I haven't had the time or patients to sit down and put together a complete tutorial about my picture processes...until now! xD I figured I could put up a section a week so it wouldn't be so time consuming and maybe at the end, stick it all together to make that complete tutorial. *is so lazy*

So this week, we'll be starting with a pic I'm currently working on called "Gem Kitties". Featured are Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat and Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger from one of my all time favorite shows, Yu-Gi-Oh GX. It's also one of the few real media fan art pictures I do. ;3

Step 1: Sketch

The key to a good picture is making sure you have everything planned out. The sketch phase of any project will help you making sure you have everything like you want it. ;3 It doesn't matter how messy it is, since it'll be all cleaned up in the next step. I know most of my sketches aren't the best in the world but neatness doesn't matter when you're planning stuff out.

So here was the sketch for Gem Kitties:

Messy! You can still see the construction lines I used for Topaz and Amethyst's face, legs, body, and tail...not to mention the way Amethyst's right shoulder goes through her gem. Anyone can tell this is far from finished, right? x3 Next we'll see what it takes to "clean up" this pic.

Key chain commissions?

So I finally decided on something I could have people commission me for besides digital pictures, real media key chains! =3 I know it's been done by everyone before, but I think these are really fun to make and they don't take that long either. I could probably do them for fairly cheap, maybe $3 - $5, depending on complexity of the character and extra things, like glitter or ribbons. I would include a metal key ring too, cause what's a key chain without something to hold it onto stuff? :B I'll have to make a few examples of different key chains in different price ranges.

I dunno how quickly I'd be able to start taking commissions for these since I still need a few things like more Copic marker colors and lacquer to protect the key chain. I should be taking orders in the next few months though so watch for an update!

New Fursona: Aki concept

Once upon a time, on a TLK website called TLKFAA, Fire started a contest in which she asked artists to design her a new fursona. She wanted it to be a female tiger with the colors black, white and pink for it's design. Many artists entered, but Fire quickly forgot about this contest and it was never finished. To this day, Fire has yet to have a fursona that actually represents herself...until now! =3

Meet Aki, my new tigress fursona.

(NOTE: Aki's background has nothing to do with my own, even though she is my fursona. Just thought I'd point that out. xD)

~~~
Aki's Background:
To others, Aki is seen as a loner, never wanting anyone but herself as company. She admits that she would much rather lay in a field of flowers alone than go to a party any day. However, under her shy attitude, there's a feisty young tiger cub that was born to be a leader. Aki does have a small group of friends that were able to gain her trust and are the only ones who seem the "real" Aki.
Aki's background is still in concept. ;3
Inspiration for Aki:
Aki's design and background are strongly influenced by Akiza Izinski and Black Rose Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's.
Fire's New Blog + Intro
I've decided that this blog will be used to for my current art status since I never seem to update my deviantArt journal. :P I'll probably post here often, so if you like my art and wanna know what I'm up to, check back often. =3
What this blog will be covering:
  • Art trade / Request / Commission status
  • Basic art status stuff
  • What I'm working on (work in progresses)
  • My characters
  • and other things involving my art.
xD That's about as specific as I can get. You'll just have to keep checking my updates to see what's going on. :3
